Online Training with Sophie Rochester of Yodomo

Craft NI is delighted to be working with Sophie Rochester of online craft hub Yodomo to deliver two online workshops designed to help you make the most of the crucial pre-Christmas season and join in Craft NI’s campaign to buy local craft online.
We’ll also be announcing dates for two further workshops looking at ho wto make best use of Facebook and Instagram. Watch this space next week for details of those sessions.
SESSION 1: Fundamentals of Online Marketing for Small Creative Businesses
Tuesday 10 November 10am -12.00
There are only so many hours in the day and you may find marketing competing with your making/finance/personal priorities. This session will help you understand your customers, how to reach them and where to prioritise your energies for best impact.In this session we’ll consider how to create a digital strategy this Christmas to support your creative business that is realistic and not overwhelming.
At the end of this session you will have:
- Created the first stage of a digital content strategy
- Understood and prioritised the best social channels for your arts, crafts or maker business
- Top tips from other makers on using Instagram for your business
SESSION 2: Creating Engaging Content
Thursday 12 November 10am-12.00
This session will explore how to create engaging and impactful content for your website and social media accounts, using a range of accessible and commonly used tools.
This short course will be an online confidence booster, to give you:
- An overview on the different types of content and why good quality is important to creative businesses
- Understanding photography: an overview of DIY photography
- Understanding image sizes and how to template to save time
Creating digital content doesn’t have to be expensive. Tools to create digital content and edit it to look as professional as possible are often free and with a bit of know-how you can create compelling content to market your work. In this session we will look specifically at Canva, iPhone, Mailchimp and other tools that will help you create and plan your digital content campaign. We’ll also look at some tips and advice from photographers and filmmakers to create digital content without all the gear!
About Sophie Rochester:
Sophie founded Yodomo, the marketplace for making, in 2017. In that time she has worked with over 100 makers on promoting, selling and developing their work online and learnt about the communications tools that are useful specifically for arts, crafts and maker businesses. Before Yodomo, Sophie was a digital content specialist in book publishing working for Random House, 4th Estate, Hay Festival and the Man Booker Prize. She is a keen amateur maker.
