Open Call for Designers and Craftspeople: Re-Imagine Resources

9 April 2026

Deadline: April 13, 2026

We are excited to announce an open call for 3 designers or craftspeople from each NPA Region
partner country (Sweden, Finland, Norway, Iceland, Ireland) to participate in the Re-Imagine
Resources project. This programme invites professionals from fashion, textiles, product design,
architecture, digital technology, and related creative disciplines to explore circular design processes
to help extend the life and value of textile products, reduce waste, and prevent overproduction.

Re-imagine Resources aims to:
• Promote Circular Design: Explore and apply circular textile/fashion design to extend product lifespan, reduce environmental impact, and raise awareness of sustainable practices.
• Foster Collaboration: Facilitate cross-border collaboration between designers to create innovative, sustainable solutions.
• Enrich Professionals: Offer workshops and masterclasses to enhance skills in circular, sustainable design.

PHASE 1: INDIVIDUAL DESIGN DEVELOPMENT : May – September 2026
Participants will independently design a product, system, or similar solution using end-of-life textiles, showcasing your unique approach to circular design. Each designer/craftsperson will visit a textile sorting facility in their home country, facilitating the design process using end of-life textiles. This phase includes 3 masterclass sessions, mentorship/feedback, and self-directed work. One finalist per country will advance to Phase 2.

PHASE 2: COLLABORATIVE CO-DESIGN : September – November 2026
At the start of Phase 2, finalists will be grouped into teams. They will work together remotely to codesign a product, system, or solution using end-of-life textiles. Each designer will also host one workshop in their home country focused on repair, reuse, or similar themes relating to textiles circularity. Phase 2 will culminate in a mobility trip to Sweden, where designers will present their work, collaborate in person, and gain valuable insights through tours and group discussions. The programme will conclude with a public exhibition, which will showcase the designers’ work and promote sustainable practices, aiming to inspire behavioural change within the wider community.

  • All participants in Phase 1 will receive €1000 each for participation and the creation of all outputs.
  • All participants proceeding to Phase 2 will receive an additional €2500 for participation and the creation of all outputs.
  • Travel, accommodation and all expenses for the Sweden mobility will be covered by Re-Imagine Resources.
