Open Call: Women in Glass Exhibition

Glassblowing has long been thought of as a man’s world, shaped by the heat, weight and physical demands of the furnace. Here at London Glassblowing, women have always been central to how the studio has grown.

In September 2027, as we mark Peter Layton’s ninetieth birthday, we will celebrate the women in glass who have helped shape our studio and British glass art more widely.

London Glassblowing are now inviting applications from UK-based women working in glass to take part in this group exhibition.

All techniques are welcome: blown, cast, kilnformed, flameworked, engraved, fused and beyond, including work that sits between glass, jewellery and sculpture. There is no fixed theme, and we would love to see brand new work, whether it grows from an existing series or is something entirely new. Artists at every stage of their career are encouraged to apply.

• A short statement (up to 200 words)
• Up to four images of recent work, or proposals and sketches for new work (JPEGs, max 5MB each)
