Residency at the Centre for Fine Print Research

An opportunity is available for a Visiting Artist and Designer in Residence at the Centre for Fine Print Research, based at the University of West England. Deadline is Thursday 30th June but the organisation are encouraging applications to be submitted as soon as possible.
The residency is a 1 to 2 month programme, and will accommodate a range of artists and designers, “who are makers, working at any level of their careers, and are advancing the boundaries of art, design and technology”.
Location
The residencies will take place at the UWE labs and studios at Frenchay Campus, Bristol.
Proposal
The Artist or Designer in residence will be expected to make a body of work that will contribute to the CFPR archive and the editions portfolio.
The applicant should have a range of interests that may include (but not exclusive to) “fine art, print, product design, robotics, electronics, software, manufacturing, materials science”.
As part of each residency, the applicant will also host lectures or practice-based sessions to the University’s researchers and postgraduate students, the number of which and format of work will be agreed between the University and applicant.
Equipment Available
UWE has a range of facilities, home to: traditional and photomechanical print, robotics and CNC, graphene, ceramic printing and extrusion; equipment including screenprint, etching, letterpress, co-robots, multi-axis CNC machines, laser cutter, paper plotter, 3D printing for polymers and ceramics, digital wide-format inkjet and UV, photography, platemaking and wet processing, glass and ceramic kilns, colour viewing cabinet, fume cabinets; testing machines including spectrophotometer, tensile strength tester, rheometer, tensiometer.

* The stipend rates are:
- Contribution to subsistence and expenses @ £100 per diem
- Reimbursement of travel costs to and from CFPR at the start and end of the residency up to £1000 (travel can be arranged by CFPR, or claimed back with receipts)
- contribution to accommodation costs @ £90 per night (can be arranged by CFPR, or claimed back with receipts)
