Shaun Leane Maker Conversation
3 October 2024
Deadline: October 24, 2024
We are thrilled to invite practicing jewellers and smiths to an in-conversation with the renowned jeweller and designer, Shaun Leane as part of Ulster University’s Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences PILOT Launch events.
This special event brings a rare opportunity to hear directly from one of the most influential figures in contemporary jewellery design. The first of two engagements in Belfast on Thursday October 24th, this event will be for jewellers and smiths only.
Shaun will give an afternoon talk at part of Belfast International Arts Festival at 2pm on the same date at the Ulster Museum, which will be open to the public.
About SHAUN LEANE
Shaun Leane is recently known to many as the lead judge on the hit show All That Glitters, but his illustrious career spans decades. After completing an intensive seven-year training as a goldsmith in Hatton Garden—where he mastered the restoration of Victorian and Art Deco jewellery—Shaun forged his own path as a trailblazing design-led jeweller.
Leane’s groundbreaking collaborations with iconic fashion houses, including Alexander McQueen and Givenchy, have redefined the boundaries of jewellery design. His avant-garde creations are unforgettable milestones in the world of fashion and design. His creative vision has seen him push the technical limits of form and materials and his ability to innovate while remaining rooted in the discipline’s history is unmatched.
This won’t be a formal lecture from Shaun, but a brilliant opportunity to talk to him about his (and yours!) jewellery and metals practices – technical questions from practicing jewellers and smiths are welcomed. Attendees must RSVP to Katherine.mcdonald@craftni.org.
