The British Glass Biennale + the International Bead Biennale 2024

Deadline: February 25, 2024The 2024 British Glass Biennale and International Glass Bead Biennale have announced their call to artists!
The British Glass Biennale is open to artists, designers, craftspeople and students working in all areas of contemporary glass practice or using glass as a key design element. The emphasis is on new work demonstrating the highest level of excellence in design, creative imagination and technical skill.
Applicants must
- Have been living and working in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for the last two consecutive years; or
- Be living, working or studying abroad but possess a British passport and have previously lived in the UK for a minimum of 15 years; or
- Be studying on glass arts course in the UK
Criteria for Submission:
- Each artist can submit up to three pieces for consideration
- Each piece must be predominantly made of glass but can incorporate other materials
- The work must have been made since 1 March 2022
- All work selected for display must be for sale
- The application fee is £15 or £10 for a student entry.
Deadline for entries: Midnight Sunday 25 February 2024
The International Glass Bead Biennale returns to the International Festival of Glass as a sister exhibition to the British Glass Biennale
Open to artists, designers, craftspeople and students of all nationalities worldwide who create beads where glass is the key design element. We welcome all glassmaking techniques as long as the piece conforms to the concept of a bead.
Criteria for Submission
- Each artist can submit up to three beads for consideration.
- Each bead must be predominantly made of glass but can incorporate other materials.
- The bead must not exceed 10 x 8cm in size but can be mounted, for example as a piece of jewellery.
- The bead must have a hole (not just a loop)
- The work must have been made since 1 March 2022
- All pieces selected for display must be for sale
- The cost of submission is £10.00
In response to so many artists requesting an extension to the deadline due to Collect and half term commitments it has been agreed to extend the deadline for submissions to midnight Sunday 3rd march 2024
