Woven Hug at Flowerfield Arts Centre
25 May 2023
Deadline:A call for creatives has been released to be involved in an upcoming community textiles project Woven Hug at Flowerfield Arts Centre, Portstewart.
This is an opportunity for those skilled in sewing and/or embroidery to support two artists visiting from Latin America, Tere Chad and Cordelia Rizzo, during community workshops and to learn more of the political significance of textiles from them.
The aim of the project is for community groups and local people to come together and create embellishments to reflect on topics that are important to them. These will then be attached to 2 giant burlap arms which will ‘hug’ the front of Flowerfield, and be on display there through the summer months.
The Community workshops will run from 1:30 – 4:30, Monday – Friday from 19th June until 5th July, Flowerfield would also love some support for their family drop-in sessions on Saturday 24th June and Saturday 1st July (workshops will run from 10:30 – 12:30 and from 1:30 – 3:30).
