This workshop will be an interactive exploration of drawing and making marks in response to and alongside found objects. Stuart Cairns, who is exhibiting at Island Arts Centre, will share his influences and inspiration behind his work while encouraging participants to explore scale and try different mediums and techniques for their own mark making.

There will be a small selection of materials available, participants are invited to bring along found objects/materials of interest, perhaps gathered from walks. Paper and basic paints will be provided, please bring along your own sketchbooks and painting/drawing materials of choice. At the end of the workshop participants will have a dictionary of marks and techniques to take away and apply to their own art practice.
