This 2 day experience is a great opportunity to embrace the craft of hand-weaving in a friendly, relaxed setting. With over 30 years weaving experience on a professional level, Áine offers a two-day experience that includes:

· Preparation of looms
· Design
· Tapestry Knots and Bobbin Making
· Tapestry Weaving and exploration of shapes
· History of Tapestry Weaving
· Finishing your woven tapestry

Not to be confused with needle point tapestry, in this workshop you will warp your loom using vertical threads and then weave across bobbins of coloured thread. It is an ancient craft documented on Egyptian pottery and elsewhere and is so therapeutic and relaxing. An extra bonus is that one can continue their weaving journey on a four-sided frame loom using an old picture frame or 4 lengths of wood. In the workshop you will weave a tapestry approximately 3” by 10” and learn how to design future tapestries incorporating your own ideas and environment.

No previous experience is needed. All materials are provided and lunch is included on both days.
