Associated with the ‘Wool Works’ exhibition (now open at Craft NI Gallery until August 5th), this demonstration will be lead by Susan Smith, a member of the Makers’ Guild in Wales and the textile group MaP.
During this demonstration you will be shown how to make beads of rolled wool fabric or hand-made felt which, when interspersed with spacer beads, will form a unique, lightweight necklace. The materials will be typical Welsh stripes and checks mainly in traditional shades of slate, black and red; the fabric beads can be embellished with tiny beads and/or basic embroidery stitches for which tuition will also be given.
